Installation is handled securely and conveniently via the official Adobe Exchange Marketplace.
Acquisition: Visit the product page in the [Adobe Exchange Store] (Insert Link when available).
Installation: Click „Install“. The Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app will manage the installation automatically in the background.
Activation: Relaunch Adobe Premiere Pro (if it was already open).
How to Find It: You can access the plugin panel via the Premiere Pro menu: Window > Extensions > SRT to VTT FastConvert
The workflow is designed to be incredibly simple and focused on maximum speed.
Since Adobe provides no direct access for to captions content for plugins, this plugin uses teh detour via the SRT-sidecar export.
After you have exported your video with SRT-sidecar directly or with media encoder, open the plugin panel from the Premiere Pro menu (Window > Extensions).
Click the button labeled "choose SRT file". A system file dialog will open. Navigate to your desired .srt file and select it.
A second system file dialog ("Save As") will automatically open. The plugin will suggest the filename with the .vtt extension. Choose your preferred save location and click "Save".
The plugin processes the file locally. Upon successful completion, a green status message will appear directly below the button: „VTT successfully created!“. (In case of an error, a red message with details will appear.)
The plugin converts existing SRT Files to webVTT. Therefore the generated VTT files are limited to the informations, possible in the SRT files. No format styling or positioning possible. The plugin automatically performs crucial technical adjustments during conversion to ensure the VTT output is „web-ready“:
Timestamp Correction: WebVTT requires periods instead of commas as decimal separators in timestamps (e.g., 00:00:01.500 instead of 00:00:01,500). The plugin performs this correction automatically.
Clean-up: SRT subtitle line numbers (which can cause issues in web players) are automatically removed.
WEBVTT Header: The mandatory WEBVTT header line is automatically added.
Local Processing: The conversion takes place 100% locally on your machine. No data is uploaded to external servers.
Adobe does not support direct access to captions content for uxp plugins. So there is actual no way to get the captions content directly from the timeline. This plugin therefore uses already exported SRT sidecar files to generate the webVTT sidecar files.

The „SRT to VTT FastConvert“ plugin does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
Locality: The conversion of your SRT files into VTT files takes place exclusively locally on your computer within the secure UXP sandbox of Adobe Premiere Pro.
No Cloud Access: There is no connection to external servers or cloud services during the conversion process. Your subtitle content never leaves your machine.
Temporary Data: No temporary copies of your files are created or stored beyond what is necessary for the immediate conversion process in active memory.
The plugin requires the following permissions, which you confirm during installation:
localFileSystem (request): This permission is strictly necessary to allow you to select an SRT file and save a VTT file via the system file dialog. The plugin only accesses the files you explicitly select through the dialog.
